New at Zion’s? Thinking about attending worship?
Welcome! We look forward to your visit.
Join us for worship
Worship is held, year-round, on Sundays at 10:30 AM in the sanctuary, and, during the school year, on Wednesday nights at 6:15 PM in the Social Hall.
We also have special services for Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Please call the Church Office at 717-865-2848 for more information.
Sunday morning worship includes hymns, prayers, a sermon, children’s message, and Holy Communion. This service usually lasts 60-70 minutes.
Wednesday night worship is a “Rejoicing Spirits” worship service, held in the Social Hall with lots of up-beat, participatory songs, a responsive scripture reading, prayers, and a short, interactive sermon. This service is informal and especially welcoming of wiggles and joyful noises. This service is 30 minutes long, and is preceded by a free community meal that begins at 5:30 PM–we’d love to welcome you to the meal, too!
Livestream Worship on Sunday
Each Sunday, we livestream our services at 10:30 am eastern.
Worshipping with us online?
It is a privilege to worship with you, and we are glad you have connected with Zion's online.
Our congregation believes we are "Gathered by the Spirit, empowered to serve, and sent to share Christ's love" in the world.
In order to best serve you, and partner with you in ministry, we'd love to know more about who you are.
Whether you are new to Zion's, or are a long-time member who is worshiping online during this season,
please allow us to follow up with you, if you desire, and to better understand our online community.
Questions about worship at Zion’s?
Who can come to worship?
All of our worship services are for people of all ages. We have handicapped parking, and a small elevator, known as an elevette, to comfortably transport persons needing assistance into the Sanctuary. The Social Hall is also handicap accessible. We have large print bulletins available on Sunday mornings (there is no bulletin on Wednesday night)
Many households worship with their children, so we are used to a bit of background noise (with the Pastor’s kid often being the loudest)! We do not offer nursery care during worship at this time.
What can you expect at worship?
Well…you can read about it on this page — or you can watch Sunday morning online!
Many would describe our worship style as “traditional”, most often accompanied by piano or organ, with brass, woodwinds, and drums added for special occasions. We love to sing, and have choirs for both younger and more mature voices.
Worship at Zion’s is very child-friendly, with “Busy Bags” for young ones to use during the service, and a weekly children’s message. If you or someone in your household needs a break from the worship space, we live-stream the service in the Gathering Area (located on the main floor) and there are some toys available there, too.
We celebrate Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist or Lord’s Supper) nearly every Sunday, and all present are invited to participate, including children. In addition to bread and wine, we offer grape juice and gluten-free wafers. If you, or your child, would rather not receive communion, for any reason, you are welcome to remain in your pew, or come forward with your arms crossed to receive a blessing.
How do I get to Zion’s?
Our address is 103 E Market St., Jonestown PA. From 72, go East on Jonestown road, which becomes Market St. If you are coming from 22, either go South on 72 (and then East on Jonestown road) or take old Route 22 south. This also becomes Market St. You can also plug our address in here for more specific directions.
Where can I park?
We have a parking lot, with handicap spaces, at the church. If the lot is full, check out King Street (which runs north and south). There is normally ample parking here.
What should I wear?
Whatever makes you feel comfortable! People come to worship in jeans, shorts, suit and ties, and everything in between. We welcome you to come as you are.
